Loving in difficult places

I don't know about you, but I come across several different scenarios throughout my week where I am challenged to show love and patience and grace rather than anger, frustration, and disregard. And if I'm being honest, I don't always win the challenge or respond in the kind of way that Jesus tells us to.  Love your enemies, turn the other cheek...

It's so difficult!

Sometimes I win and other times, I'm not proud of the way I've reacted to difficult situations or circumstances.

But then there's Jesus.  It's truly amazing to me there is actually someone who walked this beautiful and crazy world and was successful in doing this.  Consistently. Every time.  It blows my mind when I really think about it knowing full well how hard that actually is when you're experiencing it first-hand. How awesome is it that there is actually someone who models this behavior for us who we can look to and say to ourselves, "Okay, I can do better.  I can be better." Even more amazing is that His love and grace and patience for US is not contingent on our "doing better" or how hard we may or may not try.  Should we aspire to be more like Jesus every day?  Yes!  But are we loved just as we are, where we sit, stand, or lay at this very moment?  Yes!

And that's not just good news to me, that's fanastic news!  That's a relief--because I need second chances every single day.

And I'm guessing you do too.

So be encouraged that even when you don't win the fight, you can find comfort that Jesus sees you, loves you, and will always continue to press into You--compelling you to offer love in difficult places.  The kind of love He freely gives us every waking moment of our lives.
